THE HIGH PRIESTESS OF ROCK GUITARS

JIMMY PAGE’S 1968 GIBSON EDS-1275 SG DOUBLE NECK

Lisa S. Johnson truly knows how to capture the beauty of a guitar. Her imagery embraces what makes each one unique and highlights the distinct marks which defines their character. She shows a true connection with the guitar not only through her photography but also through her words which gives life and new meaning to her subjects.

In her book 108 Rock Star Guitars Lisa's description of Jimmy Page's double neck is so enlightening we felt compelled to share it with you.

“Perhaps no other guitar rises to the level of rock-n-roll icon as much as Jimmy’s SG Double Neck. See her up close and you’ll swear she’s been to hell and back, despite her frequent ascensions via the “Stairway to Heaven.” Jimmy performs the intro of that most famous of Zeppelin songs on the twelve-string, utilizing the six-string on the song’s more raucous sections and, of course, the solo.

It’s interesting to note that the serial number of this guitar is 911117, the single-digit summation of which equals two (9+1+1+1+1+7=20 and 2+0=2). To those of us who find value in numerology, the number two signifies balance, harmony, imagination, and creativity. Twos are sensitive to rhythm and music. In addition, the second trump card in the tarot is the High Priestess, who, in some readings, represents a querent’s call to listen to his inner voice, to intuit mystical secrets beyond the terrestrial vale and transpose them into melodies the rest of us can love. For such a calling, Jimmy couldn’t have a better partner than his SG Double Neck.”
